|The Dining Room...|
An unexpected side-effect of the clearing process is that our dining room is now packed with cardboard boxes of various sizes, full of goodies to be donated to charity.
Unfortunately, when I rung round a few charity shops to check parking facilities and their willingness to take "bulk" deliveries, we initially hit a wall. The Oxfam bookshop didn't have the capacity to accept any new books and the YMCA only wanted furniture (turns out their website was out of date and they no longer took books etc)
Then I turned to the British Heart Foundation, another charity that I like to support when I can (because of my medical history), and it turns out they have a van and will come and collect donations!
When I described what we had to donate, the woman at the Tonbridge branch was very excited. They're sending the van round next week.
And I believe the BHF is one of those charities that spreads its donations around numerous stores, so, as I'd hoped, my old comics will be distributed around the south-east of England, potentially catching the eye of young future-geeks or parents looking for a low-cost treat for their child who's "into" Iron Man or the Avengers.
Also, as you can see from the picture below, my games table is now looking more like a table...
